Types of knowledge demonstrated in students' presentation : A case in ELTM 2 course

Evaluasi suatu program pendidikan perlu dilakukan secara reguler, termasuk pengumpulan informasi yang relevan atas implementasi suatu program perkuliahan. Penelitian ini merupakan bagian dari suatu evaluasi pelaksanaan program perkuliahan di Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, JBSIng, Fakultas Bahasa dan Seni Universitas Negeri Jakarta. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis pengetahuan yang didemonstrasikan dalam presentasi siswa di mata kuliah ELTM 2. Studi deskriptif analisis digunakan sebagai desain penelitian ini. Data penelitian ini adalah instruksi dosen baik secara lisan maupun yang tercantum dalam rencana pembelajaran mata kuliah (RPKPS), lesson plan mahasiswa untuk presentasi, dan transkripsi dari presentasi mahasiswa. Mahasiswa harus mengorganisasi indikator untuk Kompetensi Dasar (KD), menghubungkan asumsi dan prediksi, serta merencanakan scenario pembelajaran di dalam lesson plan sebagai persiapan untuk presentasi. Sembilan presentasi mahasiswa ditranskrip. Data menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan factual didemonstrasikan oleh delapan mahasiswa, pengetahuan conceptual deidemonstrasikan oleh empat mahasiswa, pengetahuan procedural didemonstrasikan oleh sembilan presentasi mahasiswa, dan pengetahuan metacognitive tidak didemonstrasikan oleh mahasiswa. Pengetahuan procedural didemonstrasikan oleh seluruh mahasiswa. Ini sejalan dengan tujuan presentasi itu sendiri bahwa mahasiswa diharapkan dapat menjalankan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris mikro untuk berbagai level siswa. Evaluating an educational program implementation needs to be conducted regularly, including collecting relevant information on a course program implementation in a higher education. This study was a part of a course program evaluation implemented at the English Language Education Study Program (ELESP), English Department, The Faculty of Languages and Arts State University of Jakarta. This study was aimed at identifying type of knowledge demonstrated in students’ presentation in ELTM 2 course. Descriptive analytical study was employed as the research methodology. The data of the study were lecturer’s instruction in both spoken and course guideline (SPTLA), students’ lesson plan for the presentation, and the transcription of students’ presentation. Students had to organize indicators for the Kompetensi Dasar (KD), attributed assumption and prediction, and planned learning scenario in their lesson plan as preparation for the presentation. Nine students’ presentation were transcribed. The data showed that factual knowledge was demonstrated by eight students’ in their presentation, conceptual knowledge was demonstrated by four students’ in their presentation, procedural knowledge was demonstrated by nine students’ in their presentation, and metacognitive knowledge was not demonstrated by the students. Procedural knowledge was demonstrated in all students’ presentation. This is in line with the outcome of the presentation that students are able to carry out a micro English Lesson designed for various levels of students.
