Penerjemahan tindak tutur tidak langsung dari bahasa Inggris ke bahasa Indonesia : penelitian analisis isi novel Sherlock Holmes karya Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to obtain an overall view of translation of indirect speech acts from English to Bahasa Indonesia including the translation equivalence, translation strategies, and translation shift (of meaning) found in Sherlock Holmes novel by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. This study used a qualitative approach using a content analysis method. The data used in this study is dialogues about indirect speech acts, including the translation equivalence, translation strategies, and translation shift (of meaning). The data source in this study is Sherlock Holmes novel by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in English as the source text, and the translation in Bahasa Indonesia as the target text translated by Ismanto, Ahmad Asnawi, Sutrisno, dkk. Findings of this study are as follows: First, the translation of indirect speech acts found are as many as 141 data, and from there, as many as 136 data are equivalence and the rest, as many as 5 data included in translation shift (of meaning). Second, the translation equivalences used are formal equivalence 47 data and dynamic equivalence 89 data. Third, there are ten strategies found, and used by translators: reduction 38 data, transposition 22 data, modulation 1 data, paraphrasing 12 data, naturalization 23 data, expansion 13 data, descriptive 1 data, couplet 25 data, and borrowing 4 data. Fourth, there are 5 data included to translation shift (of meaning) that occurred due to the addition or reduction of information as well as meaning from the source text to the target text.
