Lecturers perception towards implementation of "english for social communication" and "English in social discource" at English Department of State University of Jakarta
ABSTRAK
Zatta Yumni. 2016. Lecturers’ Perception towards Implementation of “English for Social Communication” and “English in Social Discourse” at English Department. Jakarta. Bahasa dan Sastra Inggris, Fakultas Bahasa dan Seni, Universitas Negeri Jakarta. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menngetahui persepsi dosen terhadap mata kuliah “English for Social Communication” dan “English in Social Discourse” di jurusan Bahasa dan Sastra Inggris.yang mana hasil dari penelitian ini memungkinkan untuk dijadikan sebagai bahan untuk mengevaluasi kedua mata kuliah tersebut di jurusan Bahasa dan Sastra Inggris. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survey dimana hasilnya ditunjukkan secara qualitative. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dosen pada mata kuliah “English for Social Communication” 100% memilih integrated language skill yang diperlihatkan didalam RPKPS dan di implementasikan didalam proses belajar mengajar dengan menggabungkan macro skill serta mengajarkan mahasiswa secara bekelompok (100%). Lalu didalam proses evaluasi para dosen memberikan assessment secara group feedback (33%) dan memberikan tugas portofolio (40%).Berdasarkan persepsi terhadap nama mata kuliah“English for Social Communication” hanya 80% dari jumlah keseluruhan dosen yang memilih integrated language skill. Lalu, didalam penggunaan materi didalam kelas mereka menggunakan otentik material (100%). Persepsi dosen pada mata kuliah “English in Social Discourse”, dosen menyatakan bahwa integrated language skill digunakan selama proses belajar dan mengajar yang terjadi didalam kelas (100%). Dimana para dosen mengajarkan mata kuliah secara berkelompok (50%) dan individual serta berpasangan (50%). RPKPS yang digunakan, serta nama pada mata kuliah “English in Social Discourse” menunjukkan integrated language skill (100%). Dan, untuk material pembelajaran yang digunakan di dalam kelas para dosen “English in Social Discourse”menggunakan material yang otentik (100%). Pada evaluasi proses para dosen “English in Social Discourse” menggunakan group feedback (40%) dan pilihan ganda (40%). Kata kunci: Persepsi, integrated language skills, segregated language skills English language skill, implementasi.

The aim of the research is to find out the lecturers’ perception towards implementation of “English for Social Communication” and “English in Social Discourse” at English Department whereby the result of the research would to evaluate those subjects’ skills. The research was used survey to get the data where as the result was described as the qualitative. The result showed if the lecturers’ “English for Social Communication” chose integrated language skill on the RPKPS and was implemented during teaching and learning process with mix the macro skill then making groups (100%). Then, for evaluation process the lecturers giving group feedback (33%) and portfolio (40%). Based on the lecturers’ perception towards the name, they chose integrated language skill (80%). In the using of material in the classroom, they used authentic material (100%). Lecturers’ “English in Social Discourse” chose integrated language skill (100%) for teaching and learning process where as they were teaching the students with making group, individually, and making pair (50%). Then, lecturers’ “English in Social Discourse” chose integrated language skill for the name and RPKPS (100%).
