ABSTRACT
This research is aimed at analyzing and explaining the implementation of the activities play with contextual alphabet media puppets to improve literacy beginning child. This research was carried out at TK Dwi jaya Marga, Tabanan-Bali for student in group B. Literacy is necessary so that children can give an idea that was on his mind. The method used in this research was action research who developed by Kemmis and Tanggart. Actions taken in this research consisted of two cycles; each cycle consists of six treatments. For each cycles consisting of planning, action, monitoring and reflection. The subjects of this research were the kindergartners B2 Dwi Jaya Marga, Tabanan-Bali, totaled 29 children. Analysis of the data used in this research is done with quantitative and qualitative approaches. Analysis of quantitative data obtained based on increasing children literacy from pre-intervention to the second cycles, amounting to 23,69%. This exceeds the agreement between researchers and collaborators by 20%. Based on the percentage improvement obtained the action hypothesis is accepted. Qualitative data analysis is used based on the model analysis by Miles and Huberman by the steps: (1) data reduction, (2) display the data, and (3) verification by observation, interview, and documentation throughout the study. The results showed that the use of contextual alphabet media puppets can develop literacy beginning child. The child in mastering all aspects of early literacy using contextual alphabet media puppet will lead to the acquisition of early literacy.
