The purpose of this research is to improve the results of class X student Machinery I in SMKN 5 Jakarta through problem based learning models based on visual media. Media that is in use in pembalajaran the application of AutoCAD 2007. The method used was a Class Action Research (PTK) using the spiral model / cycle of Kemmis and Taggart consisting of 2 cycles with four stages in each cycle, namely, planning, action, observation / observation and reflection, The subjects were 37 students. The data collection techniques used include observation, achievement test, and documentation. Data on student activity obtained through classroom observation and analyzed to compare the level of activity of students in each cycle. Data on learning outcomes obtained through written tests and practice tests are then analyzed to compare the results of the test in each cycle.
The results showed an increase in activity and student learning outcomes on the subjects of mechanical engineering drawings using PBL method. This is evidenced by the increased activity seen on the percentage of students in the first cycle of student activity amounted to 67.59% (enough) increased 9.72% in the second cycle into 77.31% (good). From 9 aspect observed in the first cycle, five aspects are still under KKM is in the aspect of a student's readiness to accept the lesson, courage students to ask questions, the courage of students in presenting its findings, the student's ability to connect the material with real life, and the ability to solve problems, while on the second cycle only one aspect that has not reached KKM, the courage of students in presenting findings. An increase learning achievement, the increase in the average value of practice test and written test scores. The average grade practice test on the first cycle is 75.67 (63.33%) increased to 78.67 (86.67%) in the second cycle .. While the average value of a written test on the first cycle is 74.3 ( 56.70%) increased to 80 (93.33%) in the second cycle of the 30 students who have not yet reached KKM on the practice test as many as four students (13.33%), while on the written test as much as 2 students (6.67%) the end of the cycle.
