Hubungan antara kualitas mengajar guru sains dilihat dari persepsi siswa di Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri dengan keterlibatan akademik
Kualitas mengajar guru dipelajari sebagai kerangka dasar studi efektivitas guru yang meliputi, learning climate, classroom management, instructional clarity, activating teaching, adaptive teaching, and teaching learning strategy. Berdasarkan data TIMSS, PISA, dan PRILS, nilai hasil belajar siswa Indonesia berada jauh dibawah rata-rata nilai internasional. Salah satu permasalahan yang menyebabkan rendahnya performa pendidikan di Indonesia diduga karena kualitas mengajar guru. Guru Indonesia perlu didukung dalam meningkatkan keterampilan mengajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui profil kualitas mengajar guru sains dilihat dari persepsi siswa terkait dengan keterlibatan akademik. Serta mengetahui domain kualitas mengajar guru manakah yang paling berkontribusi terhadap keterlibatan akademik. Total 53 guru sains, 1325 siswa dari sepuluh sekolah di Jakarta melengkapi kuisioner ICALT main version student. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan profil kualitas mengajar guru sains dan keterlibatan akademik dalam kategori cukup dan baik. Terdapat hubungan positif antara kedua variabel dan domain teaching learning strategy (β = 0.30) dan activating learning (β = 0.14) merupakan domain paling signifikan berkontribusi terhadap keterlibatan akademik.
Teaching quality was studied from the evidence-based teacher effectiveness framework covering, learning climate, classroom management, instructional clarity, activating teaching, adaptive teaching, and teaching learning strategy. According to the data of TIMSS, PISA, and PIRLS, student attainment of Indonesia scored far below the international average in all those studies. One of the topics for Indonesian students 'low performance might be caused by teaching quality. Indonesian teachers need to be supported to improve their professional capacity. The aims of this study are to investigate the profile of science teachers’ teaching quality seen by pupil’s perception in public high school and to relate with academic engagement. In addition, to examine which is the best predictor of academic engagement. A total of 53 Science teachers, 1325 students from 10 public high schools in Jakarta, completed a questionnaire ICALT main version student. The results of this study showed that the profile of science teachers’ teaching quality seen by pupil’s perception in public high school and academic engagement are sufficient and good. There was a positive correlation between two variables and two domains of teaching quality, learning strategy (β = 0.30) and activating learning (β = 0.14) made a statistically significant contribution.
