This study is about the use of wordplay in Epic Rap Battles of History song lyrics. The problems of this study are what kinds of wordplay which are expressed and how wordplays are used in Epic Rap Battles of History lyrics. The objectives of the study are to find and describe the wordplay used in the song lyrics. The result of this study is expected to enrich our knowledge in understanding the types of wordplay in rap song and the implicit meaning in the song lyrics. The writer used content analysis method. The data were all words, phrases and sentences containing wordplay. The wordplays which are found in Epic Rap Battles of History lyrics are rhyming, onomatopoeia, polyptoton, and alliteration. Finally the result of the study shows that there are 97 expressions which use wordplay. They consist of 83 of rhyming, 11 of polyptoton, 1 of alliteration, and 2 of onomatopoeia. Rhyming is the most frequently used in the song lyrics. The reasons behind the used of the wordplay are to get the attraction of the reader's attention, holding that attention, giving pleasurable experiences and feelings of shared knowledge to the reader.
