MINANGKABAU PEOPLE IN PARIAMAN SUMATERA BARAT

ABSTRACT
The purpose of the study is to get a deep understanding about the
directive sppech act in the processions in the marriage ceremonial of
Minangkabau people in Pariaman Sumatera Barat. The study is the
qualitative descriptive by content analysis. The data of this study are: (1) the
directive speech act in the procession of the marriage ceremonial of
Minangkabau people in Pariaman Sumatera Barat; (2) the directive speech
act reviewed by direct speech act and indirect speech act; (3) the directive
speech act reviewed by politeness principal.
The sources of the study is the society that involved in the marriage
ceremonial of Minangkabau people in Pariaman Sumatera Barat. The results
of the study are the directive speech act in every procession of the marriage
ceremonial along with the politeness speech, direct and indirect speech that
found in the procession of marriage ceremonial in Pariaman Sumatera Barat.
The study is recommended to the teachers, lecturers, and other people
that interested in this study, as consideration of intructional material in high
school and college. The study as a part of maintanance of local culture as a
heritage to next generation and as one of vocabulary sources for the
development of Indonesian Language.
