THE EFFECT OF LEARNING MODELS AND ICT COMPETENCE ON THE LEARNING OUTCOMES OF BAHASA

ABSTRACT
This aim of this research was to find outl the effect of learning models and student’s ICT competence on the learning outcomes of bahasa. It uses quantitative comparative approach with experimental method used treatmeant by level 2x2 design. Contextual teaching and learning (CTL) model for experimental group and expository model teaching and learning for control group. The research was conducted at the Vocational School (SMK) Negeri 17 Jakarta involving samples of 36 students that selected randomly. Data were collected using learning output test and ICT competence test. The result of the study was analyzed with two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and followed by Tukey’s test.
The results indicate: (1) learning outcomes of bahasa of the students group using contextual model is higher than the group using expository model; (2) there is an interaction effect of learning model and students’ ICT competence level on the learning outcomes of bahasa; (3) contextual model brings higher learning outcomes of bahasa to the students group of higher ICT competence; (4) expository model brings higher learning outcomes of bahasa to the students group of lower ICT competence. Contextual learning model proved to be effective in improving learning outcomes of bahasa. To determine the learning model that will be used in the classroom, teachers also need to consider the student characteristics and competence.
