Rekomendasi penggunaan hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene mandiri sebagai binder propelan berdasar hasil pengujian berat molekul HTPB impor = Recommendation of using the autonomous hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene as binder for propellant based on the import HTPB molecular weight testing values
It has tested and analyzed the molecular weight of Hydroxyl Termianted Polybuatdiene (HTPB), as its results specification 2, specification 3, specification 4 are 9998 gr/mol (label 2300-2800 gr/mol), 9047 gr/mol (label 2800-3500 gr/mol), and 12823 gr/mol (label 3500-4500 gr/mol) respectively. The analysis is based on the HTPB molecular weight used by most researchers in making propellant. Most researchers use HTPB with a molecular weight of 2300-3200 gr/mol, located between HTPB molecular weight specification 1 and specification 2. Because the molecular weight of the test results has a value which is far from being used to the researchers, it is recommended that the policy makers to use specification 1 which is estimated to have a molecular weight of the smallest. In addition, if desired to use HTPB low molecular weight (± 2500 g/mol), it is necessity of use HTPB independently. This recommendation is based on results of research conducted by Rosita in 2011, which HTPB molecular weight of less than 4000 or 5000 gr/mol can be achieved by reducing the amount of catalyst of 0.75 gr or by reducing the reaction time of 36 hours.
