Tantangan Mendidik Generasi Berkarakter di Abad 21
Artikel ini membahas tantangan pendidikan dalam membentuk generasi berkarakter di abad 21, khususnya generasi Z yang lahir pasca 1996 dan tumbuh sebagai digital native. Perubahan sosial, ekonomi, dan teknologi menuntut paradigma baru pendidikan yang tidak hanya berorientasi pada pengetahuan akademik, tetapi juga pengembangan karakter, spiritualitas, dan keterampilan abad 21 seperti berpikir kritis, kolaborasi, komunikasi efektif, serta kreativitas. Penulis menekankan pentingnya empat pilar pendidikan UNESCO—*learning to know, learning to do, learning to live together,* dan *learning to be*—sebagai kerangka menghadapi ketidakpastian global. Pendidikan karakter dipandang sebagai fondasi utama untuk membekali generasi dengan nilai moral, spiritual, dan tanggung jawab sosial, sehingga mereka mampu menghadapi kompleksitas dunia modern dengan integritas dan kesadaran spiritual.

This article examines the challenges of educating a character-based generation in the 21st century, particularly Generation Z born after 1996 and raised as digital natives. Rapid social, economic, and technological changes demand a new educational paradigm that goes beyond academic knowledge to include character development, spirituality, and 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, effective communication, and creativity. The author highlights the importance of UNESCO’s four pillars of education—*learning to know, learning to do, learning to live together,* and *learning to be*—as a framework for addressing global uncertainty. Character education is considered the essential foundation to equip the younger generation with moral values, spirituality, and social responsibility, enabling them to face the complexities of modern life with integrity and spiritual awareness.
